Acupuncture

A practice of traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture involves the insertion of tiny needles at specified points on the body to restore the normal flow of energy within the body. Acupuncture can relieve pain and improve motor function in individuals with CP. Doctors recognize this as a form of treatment for chronic pain, and it has especially been shown effective for back pain and neck pain.

Electrical Stimulation

Some experts electrical stimulation can improve the muscle strength of your child. A short duration of electrical impulses are sent into the muscles, causing contractions and improving muscle strength. Often, doctors perform electrical stimulation as a form of treatment while the individual sleeps. Studies on this form of therapy are inconclusive, so proceed with caution.

Pets

Therapy animals are widely used to help individuals with disabilities. Interaction with pets can help your child to develop empathy and social skills.
